Scotland captain Preston Mommsen "proud" after New Zealand defeat

Scotland captain Preston Mommsen has said that he is "proud" of his team's effort against New Zealand in Pool A of the World Cup today.

Scotland recovered from 12-4 to set a target of 142, and they took seven New Zealand wickets with the ball, but they ultimately fell just short.

Mommsen told reporters: "It was a very tough start for us. They bowled very well and the ball did a little more than expected. Matt Machan and Richie Berrington batted well, but unfortunately they couldn't go on. We put the ball in the right areas. Unfortunately we couldn't get the final three wickets, but I'm very proud of the performance."

Scotland next face England on Sunday.
