Pakistan in strong position against New Zealand at tea

New Zealand trail Pakistan by 380 runs at tea on day three of the first Test in Abu Dhabi.

The Kiwis are 186-5 at the end of the afternoon session, as they aim to chase down Pakistan's impressive first-innings total of 566.

A knock of 87 not out from opener Tom Latham has offered some resistance for Brendan McCullum's side after they lost three wickets before lunch.

Latham and Corey Anderson guided New Zealand past 100, but their partnership was broken soon after by Rahat Ali, who bowled Anderson out for 48.

James Neesham made 11 before he was stumped by Sarfraz Ahmed off the bowling of Mohammad Hafeez.

New Zealand will begin the evening session with Latham and BJ Watling (13*) at the crease.
