Mohammad Amir released from jail

Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Amir has reportedly been released from jail halfway through a six-month sentence for spot-fixing.

Amir, Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif were sentenced to prison in November for their involvement in the spot-fixing scandal which took place during a Test match against England at Lord's in 2010.

The trio deliberately bowled no-balls in exchange for corrupt payments.

While Amir was sentenced to six months behind bars, Butt and Asif were given two-and-a-half-year and one-year terms respectively.

England are currently 2-0 down in their three-Test series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.
