Dhoni fined for India's slow over-rate

India's captain MS Dhoni has been penalised for his team's slow over-rate during their 110-run defeat to Australia in Brisbane.

The opener and wicket keeper will now miss the meeting with Sri Lanka after receiving a one-match ban.

Match referee Andy Pycroft was forced to take action after the world champions finished two overs behind schedule in Sunday night's tri-series clash at the Gabba.

Dhoni, who missed the fourth test match in Adelaide for the same offence, will also be fined 40 per cent of his match fee.

The rest of the Indian players face a 20 per cent deduction of their match fee.
