England rip through Sri Lanka, need 68 to win third ODI

England rip through SL in third ODI

Chris Jordan took five wickets as England tore through Sri Lanka in this afternoon's third one-day international in Manchester, removing the tourists for just 67 runs.

The returning Alastair Cook won the toss and put Sri Lanka into bat on an overcast day at Old Trafford.

James Anderson was the man to remove both Sri Lankan openers early on, with both Lahiru Thirimanne (7) and Tillakaratne Dilshan (2) edging deliveries through to wicketkeeper Jos Buttler.

Jordan then got rid of Kumar Sangakkara (13) before James Tredwell trapped Mahela Jayawardene (12) lbw.

Jordan's deliveries were proving too good for the Sri Lankan batsmen and he took four of the last six wickets to finish with figures of 5-29 as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 67 - their third-lowest ODI total ever.

The five-game series is currently tied at 1-1.
