England beat South Africa by 19 runs to land the Twenty20 series with a 2-1 success in Cardiff on Sunday afternoon.

England have overcome South Africa by 19 runs as Trevor Bayliss's team put on a professional performance to land the Twenty20 series with a 2-1 success in Cardiff on Sunday afternoon.

South Africa earned a dramatic three-run win over England on Friday to take the series into a decider, two days after England had won the series opener by nine wickets in Southampton.

Debutant Dawid Malan hit 78 for England to help his team post 181-8, and South Africa could only manage 162-7 despite the best efforts of AB de Villiers and Mangaliso Mosehle, who made 39 and 36 respectively off 22 balls.

Captain Eoin Morgan was rested as Malan was given his debut, and an incredible 78 from the 29-year-old saw him become the highest scorer for an England player on a T20 debut, beating Paul Collingwood's 46 in 2005.

England and South Africa will meet once again next month as they begin a four-Test series on July 6.
