Jonny Bairstow ton guides England to series win over New Zealand

A second successive ton from Jonny Bairstow guides England to a seven-wicket win over New Zealand, giving Eoin Morgan's side a 3-2 victory in the series.

England have won their one-day series with New Zealand courtesy of a seven-wicket victory in the final fixture in Christchurch.

Eoin Morgan's side went into the game after a batting collapse had cost them the fourth contest earlier this week, but England did not require many of their middle order after a second successive ton from Jonny Bairstow.

Unlike at Dunedin, New Zealand's batting lineup struggled with the Black Caps being reduced to 93-6 after 26.3 overs, and although Henry Nicholls (55) and Mitchell Santner (67) rallied to get the home team to 223 all out, that total was never going to be enough.

Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid had both chipped in with three wickets apiece, but Bairstow and Alex Hales took centre stage at the start of the reply with an opening-wicket stand of 155 from just over 20 overs.

Bairstow was eventually dismissed for 104 from just 60 deliveries and although Hales soon followed for 61, Joe Root (23*) and Ben Stokes (26*) were left to get England over the line with 104 balls to spare.
