Strauss reveals Pietersen apology

Former England captain Andrew Strauss has revealed that Kevin Pietersen has apologised to him over the recent text row surrounding the national team.

Pietersen is currently thought to be in discussions with the ECB over his future after he was frozen out of the side for sending "provocative" messages to South African players during the August Test series.

"We had a good chat and he apologised to me, which was great but what was said between us will remain between us," Strauss told BBC Sport.

"It was good that we spoke and got a few things out in the open.

"We've always been good friends. It was an awkward time this summer for all sorts of people."

Pietersen was left out of England's upcoming tour of India in Tuesday's squad announcement by the ECB.
