Eoin Morgan promises "back to the basics" England captaincy

Eoin Morgan has promised that his England captaincy will be "back to the basics" for the upcoming World Cup in New Zealand and Australia.

The Irish-born batsman replaced Alastair Cook as one-day skipper following the team's fourth ODI series defeat in a row against Sri Lanka in December.

The 28-year-old told BBC Sport: "There will be certain things Alastair would do that I wouldn't just because it is his character and mine.

"When I've captained in the past I've tended to strip things back to the basics. That's my method.

"We've had a difficult time over the last 12 months, but I think the individual world-class performances we've put in at stages gives guys a lot of belief and it gives me a lot of confidence coming into these three months."

England begin their World Cup campaign against Australia on February 14th.
