Moeen Ali targets improvement after maiden one-day international century

England all-rounder Moeen Ali claims that he can play even better after hitting his maiden one-day international century in the loss to Sri Lanka.

England all-rounder Moeen Ali has claimed that there is more to come from him following his 119 from 87 balls in a losing cause against Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old, who also returned figures of 1-66 in 10 overs, starred in his new role as Alastair Cook's opening partner, but he was unable to prevent England from slipping to a 25-run defeat in Colombo.

"I'm very disappointed that we lost the game," Moeen told reporters. "Our plan was to stay in the game as long as we can. The problem was we lost one or two wickets too many.

"I feel good, I'm very happy opening the batting, I feel like everyone's backing me to go out and express myself. I enjoy playing shots, I feel like I can play even better than that, but that was nice."

The century was the third-fastest scored by an English batsman in ODI cricket.
