MCC: 'Ban mobiles in domestic dressing rooms'

The MCC is calling for mobile phones to be banned in domestic dressing rooms as well as international ones.

The Marylebone Cricket Club has revealed that it wants a ban on mobile phones in dressing rooms during televised domestic cricket matches to reduce the threat of corruption.

The sport has had a number of high-profile match-fixing cases in recent seasons, with currently mobile phones only banned during international games.

However, the MCC has now called for the ban to be extended to televised domestic cricket to stop the spread.

"The MCC world cricket committee, like the ICC, is well aware of the risks of displacement by crooked fixers from international matches to domestic televised matches," an MCC statement said.

"The committee calls for mobile phones to be banned in dressing rooms for all domestic televised matches."

Danish Kaneira and Mervyn Westfield were hit with ECB bans earlier this year after their involvement with spot-fixing.
