Kevin Pietersen apologises to fans

Kevin Pietersen has issued an apology to England fans for his performance during the series against Pakistan.

The batsman averaged just 11 in a three-match Test series that England lost 3-0.

"I averaged 11 in these 3 Tests.. HORROR show!!," he wrote on Twitter. "So sorry supporters!! Not good enough and I know it."

South African-born Pietersen made his England debut in July 2005.
