Steven Harmison: 'Ashley Giles is the best candidate for England job'

Harmison: 'Giles is best candidate'

Steven Harmison has claimed that Ashley Giles has the advantage over the other people bidding to be named England's new head coach.

Giles, who took charge of the limited-overs teams in 2012, was unable to prevent England from being knocked out of the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh, but Harmison still believes that his former teammate is the right man to take the team forward in all formats.

"Ashley Giles is a better candidate than all of them put together," the former Durham and England fast bowler was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"The only names that have come out and said they do want it are Mickey Arthur and Tom Moody.

"I would take Peter Moores, potentially, but the rest of them - I'm not being disrespectful - Ashley is better."

Giles has faced more criticism following revelations about the disappointing tour of Australia from Michael Carberry.
