England coach Ashley Giles: 'Kevin Pietersen drama is forgotten'

England limited-overs coach Ashley Giles insists that the controversy surrounding Kevin Pietersen is "history" after the batsman signed a full central contract.

England limited-overs coach Ashley Giles has insisted that the team have moved on from the controversy surrounding Kevin Pietersen and his teammates.

The batsman was booted out of the national setup last summer after sending "provocative" text messages to members of the South Africa team about his England compatriots, including then Test captain Andrew Strauss.

Since then, the 32-year-old has been reintegrated into the side and has put pen to paper on a full central contract with the ECB.

"He is fully signed up, he has signed his central contract and that is good news," the London Evening Standard quotes Giles as saying. "The stuff with KP is history. It got out of hand but now he is back on board and playing as well as ever by the looks of it.

"It's great news. Whatever happened in 2012, we're moving into a new year now. It's great for me to have him here [in India]. His experience in this side in this part of the world in invaluable."

England begin their five-match one-day international series against India at the SCA stadium in Rajkot on Friday.
