Gary Ballance: "We've still got a great chance"

Gary Ballance backs Yorkshire to end their wait for a Roses Championship victory.

Gary Ballance is backing Yorkshire to bounce back from one-day disappointment and end their long wait for a Roses Championship victory.

Yorkshire face Lancashire this week as they bid to win a first County Championship in 13 years, having recently been beaten by Durham in the Royal London Cup.

"The one-day game was disappointing, but we've still got a great chance," Ballance is quoted as saying by The Guardian. "If we play like we have been doing in the Championship for the last three games, I think we'll win it.

"To be top of table with three games to go, to have a chance of winning the title, I wouldn't say no to being involved. I haven't spoken to England about it.

"Martyn Moxon [Yorkshire's director of cricket] just asked me if I would like to play. It's been a very busy summer, but I'm feeling fresh."

Ballance hopes to be cleared by England to return for the pivotal game against title rivals Nottinghamshire in September and may be joined in the Yorkshire team bu international teammates Joe Root and Liam Plunkett.
