Eoin Morgan backs young England side

Eoin Morgan has backed his young England side to produce the goods in their one-day international match against Ireland on Thursday.

The Irish-born batsman will captain England against his country of birth in front of a sell-out crowd of 5,000 in Dublin.

Senior players James Anderson, Ian Bell, Graeme Swann and Kevin Pietersen have all been rested for the match, with the uncapped James Taylor, Ben Stokes, Jonathan Bairstow and Scott Borthwick replacing them.

"Take nothing away from the guys who are coming in," said Morgan.

"A lot of them have already played for England and the four new guys who have come in are the brightest and biggest talents in English cricket at the moment.

"No-one should be disappointed with the side we've come with. The side is always hungry."

Ireland will bid to repeat their World Cup win from earlier this year, when they beat England by three wickets in Bangalore, although Morgan missed that match with a broken finger.

The 24-year-old made 23 one-day international appearances for Ireland before switching allegiances.
