England vs. Essex loses first-class status

Essex's requirement for replacement bowlers means that their match against England is no longer a first-class fixture.

England's ongoing Ashes warm-up clash against Essex has lost its status as a first-class encounter.

Hosts Essex have lost bowlers Tymal Mills and David Masters to injury, which has seen them call up Reece Topley, who had been rested, and England's 12th man Boyd Rankin.

Consequently, it means that all the runs that have been scored, along with the wickets that have fallen, will not be added to the respective records of each player.
