Elbow injury keeps Swann out

Graeme Swann has been forced to pull out of England's first Test against New Zealand because of the recurrence of an elbow problem.

Monty Panesar comes in for the spin bowler for the Test in Dunedin, which has been delayed because of wet conditions.

Swann wrote in his column in The Sun this morning: "I have one big worry, the state of my right elbow. It caused me discomfort again during our only warm-up match before tonight's first Test and I had to leave the field.

"I'll be honest, the elbow is always a concern. It's been hanging over me for several years and, despite having an operation in 2009, the problem hasn't entirely gone away."

Play had been due to get underway earlier this evening, but the ground staff have covered the crease while rain continues to fall.
