ECB suspends Ben Stokes, Alex Hales after bar incident

The ECB will not consider Ben Stokes or Alex Hales for England selection until further notice after an incident outside a Bristol nightclub on Monday morning.

The ECB has announced that neither Ben Stokes nor Alex Hales will be considered for England selection until further notice.

Late on Wednesday night, footage emerged of Stokes allegedly involved in a street brawl, an incident which led to his arrest shortly afterwards.

Stokes has since been released, while Hales - who was seemingly with Stokes - has voluntarily helped police with their ongoing investigation, but the ECB has officially moved to suspend the pair from international action.

A statement read: "Ben Stokes and Alex Hales will not be considered for selection for England international matches until further notice."

On Wednesday, Stokes was named in England's 16-man squad for the upcoming Ashes tour, but the nature of the video which has since been released inevitably casts doubts over his inclusion.

According to Sky Sports News, the 26-year-old will be re-interviewed by Avon & Somerset Police.
