Cook wants T20 inclusion

Alastair Cook is determined to break into England's Twenty20 squad following an impressive stint of leadership with the national side's one-day squad.

The prolific batsman scored his second one-day international century during England's victory over Pakistan yesterday.

"When I was out of the England ODI side, I knew that if wanted to play one-day cricket for England I had to improve," ESPN quotes Cook as saying. "I had to score quicker. That's what I went to work on with Graham Gooch and the Essex boys.

"The experience I gained playing those two years for Essex, especially a year-and-a-half playing T20 cricket for Essex, forced me to expand my game and helped me realise what I could do.

"I'd love to be in the T20 side, too, but it's a totally different format and I'm not in it at the moment."

England take a 2-0 lead into the third ODI of the series against Pakistan on Saturday.
