Cook reaches Test run milestone

England captain Alastair Cook has become the youngest ever player to reach 7,000 Test match runs.

The 27-year-old has taken India's Sachin Tendulkar's title by reaching the feat during the second day of the third Test against India in Kolkata.

Cook and his batting partner Nick Compton have steered the visitors to 138 without loss so far in their first innings, with the majority of the evening session remaining.

Meanwhile, Compton has secured his first Test half-century on a day that England bowled out India for 316 in the morning session and have taken full control of the third Test.
