Cook defends rotation policy

England captain Alastair Cook has defended their policy of rotating players ahead of their tour of India in January.

James Anderson, Graeme Swann and Jonathan Trott all have been left out of the squad, while Kevin Pietersen has been recalled.

"We are looking at workloads," Cook told reporters. "The rotation of certain players at certain times will benefit England.

"We have to look after every player, KP is no different."

England will play five one-day international matches against India.

England's ODI squad for India: Alastair Cook (captain), Jonny Bairstow, Ian Bell, Tim Bresnan, Danny Briggs, Jos Buttler (wicketkeeper), Jade Dernbach, Steven Finn, Craig Kieswetter (wicketkeeper), Stuart Meaker, Eoin Morgan, Samit Patel, Kevin Pietersen, James Tredwell, Chris Woakes
