Alastair Cook shows faith in England coach Ashley Giles

England captain Alastair Cook believes that the strategy of appointing a separate coach for limited-overs cricket is going to prove successful.

Ashley Giles will be in charge of England when they take on India in five one-day internationals in January.

The move is similar to England having three separate captains for three different forms of the game - Andrew Strauss for Tests, Cook for ODIs and Stuart Broad for Twenty20 internationals.

"This is unknown territory," Cook told reporters. "We haven't done it before. It is a bit like the three captains.

"That was new and I thought it worked really well because of the energy the captains brought to their side. I can see this working the same way on the coaching side.

"We are going to have to work very hard on the relationship. I am sure, as we get used to it, the relationship will improve. I have no worries about it working well."

England will fly to India this week.
