England opener Nick Compton has refused to look ahead to this summer's Ashes series until the series against New Zealand are over.

The Somerset batsman has solidified his place in the Three Lions team with back-to-back hundreds in the first and second Test matches against the Kiwis.

He told The Telegraph: "It was very clear coming into the New Zealand series for me that I needed to play the first one well, earn the right to play the second one and then hopefully the third one and I'm not going to look any further than that.

"I'm not allowing my mind to drift to the Ashes because I've learned from opening the batting, distractions are the biggest obstacle you have as a batsman and I think the same goes in life really."

The third Test against New Zealand begins in Auckland on March 22.
