Jos Buttler hits back at "unfair criticism" of Eoin Morgan's England withdrawal

Jos Buttler defends one-day captain Eoin Morgan's decision to withdraw from the England squad for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh.

England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler has given his backing to Eoin Morgan after the one-day captain opted against travelling with the squad for their tour of Bangladesh.

The 30-year-old skipper and batsman Alex Hales have withdrawn from the squad due to security fears following July's terror attack, which killed 29 people in Dhaka.

It was announced last month that the one-day international tour would go ahead as planned after a three-man team from the England and Wales Cricket Board were sent to Bangladesh to scope out the security measures.

Despite the safety confirmation, Morgan decided not to lead the team, but Buttler has defended the batsman's decision.

"There has been some unfair criticism," Sky Sports News quotes Buttler as saying. "Cricket is not the be-all and end-all. He has made the decision that is right for him and it is not one he has taken lightly. He has come to one which he is comfortable with and people should respect that.

"Reading things in the press and having a lot of information about it, you do have some worries. But you try and think long and hard about it, let the dust settle for a bit and try and work through it logically.

"For me personally, I'm happy to go. It's a completely individual position - as it has to be - people are different and view things differently, and everyone completely respects that it is a personal decision."

The series in Bangladesh begins on October 3.
