Trevor Bayliss offered England job?

The ECB offer the England coach's job to former Sri Lanka coach Trevor Bayliss, according to a report.

The ECB have reportedly offered the England coach's job to Trevor Bayliss.

The 52-year-old, who is the current coach of New South Wales, appears to have pipped fellow Australian Jason Gillespie to the role.

Yorkshire coach Gillespie has held talks with the ECB and looked set to be appointed as Peter Moores's successor.

Bayliss coached Sri Lanka alongside current England assistant coach Paul Farbrace, leading them to the World Cup final in 2011 where they were beaten by India.

He has also coached New South Wales to the Sheffield Shield title and won the Indian Premier League with the Kolkata Knight Riders.

According to The Telegraph, Bayliss has been offered the England job and is set to give the ECB an answer within the next 24 hours.

Bayliss was interviewed by the ECB when they appointed Moores 18 months ago.
