England select Jonny Bairstow for West Indies Test

Bairstow named in England squad

England have named their squad for the first Test against West Indies, with Jonny Bairstow receiving his first call up.

The 22-year-old batsman has six caps at one-day and Twenty20 level but he is set to make his first appearance as a Test player in the match at Lord's next week.

Bairstow is likely to bat at number six for Andrew Strauss's side following the confirmation that Ravi Bopara will miss the first Test with a thigh injury.

Durham bowler Graham Onions has also been selected in the 13-man squad.

England squad: Andrew Strauss (Captain, Middlesex), James Anderson (Lancashire), Jonny Bairstow (Yorkshire), Ian Bell (Warwickshire), Tim Bresnan (Yorkshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Alastair Cook (Essex), Steven Finn (Middlesex), Graham Onions (Durham), Kevin Pietersen (Surrey), Matt Prior (Sussex), Graeme Swann (Nottinghamshire), Jonathan Trott (Warwickshire)
