Anderson, Broad ruled out for rest of season

England bowlers James Anderson and Stuart Broad will not play again this season due to injuries.

The England and Wales Cricket Board has announced that Anderson's right shoulder "requires ongoing rehabilitation", while Broad is struggling with an ankle injury.

Neither Anderson nor Broad was included in the limited-overs squads for series against Pakistan, but both were due to represent Lancashire and Nottinghamshire respectively in the County Championship.

However, a statement from the ECB read: "Both players have managed their injuries through the summer. A break from cricket is needed to best prepare the Test opening bowling pair for England's winter campaign that begins this October in Bangladesh."

Meanwhile, Jonny Bairstow has been released from the ODI squad to compete in Yorkshire's Royal London semi-final against Surrey.
