Alex Hales eyes place in England Test side

England batsman Alex Hales reveals that he wants to earn a place in the Three Lions' Test side after making his one-day international debut against India.

England batsman Alex Hales is determined to prove that he can make his mark on the international stage and force his way into the Test side.

Hales has been the Three Lions' outstanding batsman in Twenty20 cricket for the past two years, and made his one-day international debut against India earlier this week.

The 26-year-old has revealed that he wants to follow in the footsteps of Australia's David Warner, as a player who gradually progressed from the shorter format of the game to become a key figure in the Test side.

Hales told reporters: "Test cricket has always been my dream. It is going to come with a lot more hard work and it's going to start this winter, by showing I can score hundreds on the big stage.

"Attacking opening batsmen like David Warner, Chris Gayle and Virender Sehwag have shown that it is possible to bat this way in Test matches."

England face India in the third ODI of their series later today.
