Matt Prior says that England must do their talking on the field against Australia in The Ashes.

Matt Prior has told his England teammates that the time for talking is over and that they must let their performances on the pitch speak for themselves against Australia in The Ashes.

The hosts can reclaim the urn and finally end a run of three consecutive series defeats to England with another victory in the third Test, having won comfortably in Brisbane and Adelaide over the past month to take a 2-0 lead.

"Quite frankly we have to start again," Prior told the media. "It's a clean slate and we have to come here firing on all cylinders and get a result.

"This isn't a time for mincing words; positive this, positive that. Sometimes you have got to look yourself straight in the mirror and know where you are at.

"It is all well and good me sitting here talking about fight and hunger and everything, but the only way we are going to show how much fight and hunger we have got is out on that cricket pitch. This is the time for brutal honesty and fronting up."

The third Test starts on Friday at the WACA in Perth.
