Kevin Pietersen: 'England right to drop me'

Kevin Pietersen admits that England winning The Ashes has proven that the selectors were right to drop him from the side.

Kevin Pietersen has admitted that England winning The Ashes has proven that the selectors were right to drop him.

England director of cricket Andrew Strauss announced in May that the 35-year-old would not be recalled to the national side, citing a "massive trust issue" with the batsman.

Pietersen has stated that, following England's victory over Australia, he does not have any hard feelings about his omission.

"He had a decision to make, he made his decision and it's turned out absolutely fine; England won The Ashes," The Mirror quotes Pietersen as saying.

"At the time I would have said 'Ridiculous, nonsense.' I might have said something stronger to him.

"But look, England have won the Ashes and I'm not a negative person. I am so positive. I am buzzing England have done what they have done."

England beat Australia 3-2 to regain the Ashes urn.
