No shocks in England's Ashes squad

No shocks in England squad

There have been no surprise selections in the England squad for the first Ashes Test against Australia on Wednesday morning.

The hosts have named a 13-man squad, which will be captained by Alastair Cook.

As expected, Nick Compton has been dropped, which in turn suggests that Joe Root will open the batting alongside Cook.

Kevin Pietersen is back from injury and has been included, as have Graeme Swann and Stuart Broad.

Meanwhile, bowler Graham Onions has been named as the 13th man.

England squad to face Australia:

Anderson, Bairstow, Bell, Bresnan, Broad, Cook, Finn, Onions, Pietersen, Prior, Root, Swann, Trott
