Joe Root has moved to the top of the ICC Test batting rankings after playing a key role in England's Ashes victory.
The 24-year-old ended the fourth Test at Trent Bridge at the top of the series batting charts, having scored 443 runs in seven innings at an average of 73.83.
England's vice-captain scored a century in this week's Test in Nottingham to make him the only batsman so far to hit two tons this series, following his 134 on the first day of the series in Cardiff.
He moved from number three to number one in the world rankings, swapping places with Australian number three Steve Smith while South Africa's AB de Villiers remained in second.
England took an unassailable 3-1 lead with their three-day victory at Trent Bridge to regain the urn.
