England captain Alastair Cook hails Steven Finn for coming back into the side and helping them beat Australia to win the third Ashes Test.

England captain Alastair Cook has hailed the recalled Steven Finn following the team's victory over Australia in the third Ashes Test.

Finn, who was playing his first Test in two years at Edgbaston, took six second-innings wickets as the hosts went 2-1 up in the series on Friday.

The 26-year-old seamer ended the match with figures of 8-117.

"Amazing comeback from Finny," Cook told BBC Sport. "This is what sport does. It is a test of you as a bloke. You have amazing times and tough times and it is how you handle that. Finny has had that.

"The character to come back after a lot of hard work is incredible. We haven't seen a changing room as happy for anyone as it was for Finny taking his wickets."
