England's Stuart Broad "enjoyed" being booed

Stuart Broad says that he took the boos from the Australia fans with jest and did not let them affect his performance for England.

England bowler Stuart Broad has said that he "enjoyed" the jeers he received from the Australia fans on Thursday.

The 27-year-old was booed on the first day of the first Ashes Test at The Gabba in Brisbane, but finished with figures of 5-65.

"There has been a lot of build-up and talk but we put everything else aside and after losing the toss to get eight wickets in the day we put ourselves in a strong position," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"I had prepared myself for some boos and I quite enjoyed it! The Aussies are good sports fans they like to give the opponents some stick but they respect good sport."

Australia finished the day on 273-8.
