Tim Bresnan on track for Adelaide return

England bowling coach David Saker reveals that Tim Bresnan is training at 100% and could be in contention for a return in the second Ashes Test in Adelaide.

England bowling coach David Saker has revealed that Tim Bresnan is back in full training ahead of a potential return to the team in the second Ashes Test.

The Yorkshireman will miss the opening match against Australia, which begins on Thursday in Brisbane, with a stress fracture in his back that has prevented him playing since the middle of August.

He will step up his recovery by bowling in a tour game in Alice Springs next week, and Saker has suggested that Bresnan is making good progress and could be in contention for the second Test in Adelaide.

"He's bowling at 100% in the nets now so we've just got to get some overs into him," Saker told reporters.

Chris Tremlett is expected to deputise in Brisbane in the third seamer role that Bresnan fulfilled in the 3-0 home series win this summer, where he took 10 wickets at an average of 29.6.
