James Anderson backs England batsmen

Bowler James Anderson insists that England have not struggled with the pace of Australia's bowlers during the first Ashes Test match in Brisbane.

Bowler James Anderson believes that England's batsmen will return stronger on day four as they attempt to save the first Ashes Test match in Brisbane.

After being set a target of 561, England were quickly reduced to 24-2 at the close of play, but Anderson has insisted that his side have not struggled with the pace being offered by Australia's bowling attack.

The 31-year-old told Sky Sports News: "The pace hasn't been a worry. We have faced much quicker than this in previous series, and we have prepared for them bowling quick at us.

"We've got a lot of quality in our lineup and a lot of fighting spirit, and I'm sure that we can come back stronger tomorrow."
