Smith closes in on century to keep Australia on top

Steve Smith scored 86 to close in on another century for Australia and help them on their way to 170-3 at tea on day one of the second Test against the West Indies.

Having recovered from a slow start, which saw them languishing on 16-2 early on in Jamaica, the Baggy Greens were soon on top thanks largely to the batting of Smith.

Michael Clarke was dismissed for 47 runs, but Smith showed no signs of slowing down at the crease as the end of play arrived.

The right-handed batsman finds himself unbeaten on 86 at the break, while Adam Voges is on 18* as Australia continue to steady the ship following the earlier losses of David Warner and Shaun Marsh.
