Australia, South Africa suffer washout

Australia and South Africa have been forced to share a point apiece from their Tri-Series fixture after rain washed out play in Bridgetown.

South Africa had been hoping to secure their place in the final while Australia were keen to move ahead of the Proteas in the standings, but just one over was possible after Australia skipper Steven Smith had won the toss and elected to field.

There was a brief chance of play after the rain finally abated over three hours after it had started, but the out-field was deemed unplayable for over an hour before the wet weather returned.

The next game of the series is scheduled to take place at the same venue on Tuesday, with Australia and West Indies both facing a must-win fixture to keep their hopes alive in the competition.
