Ricky Ponting vows to continue playing Test cricket

Australian batsman Ricky Ponting has revealed that he doesn't expect to play one-day international cricket again after being dropped by the national side.

The former captain was dropped from the 50-over format this week following five single-figure scores in the series against India.

Despite the snub, Ponting claimed that his Test career is not finished during a press conference where he was expected to retire from international cricket.

The 37-year-old said: "I will continue to play Test cricket and cricket for Tasmania.

"I think I proved to myself and everyone else with my performances that I can still play Test cricket.

"I'm disappointed but life goes on. I understand the reasons why."

Ponting retires from ODI cricket having scored 13,704 runs, and sits behind Sachin Tendulkar as the second-highest run scorer.
