Australia's Michael Clarke fined over James Anderson comments

Australia's Michael Clarke is fined for his comments towards James Anderson during the first Test of the Ashes.

Australia captain Michael Clarke has been hit with a fine by the ICC following his comments towards England bowler James Anderson during the first Ashes Test in Brisbane last week.

The 32-year-old was caught by a stump microphone saying to Anderson that he should "get ready for a broken f***ing arm" during England's second innings at The Gabba.

As a result of the outburst, Clarke was cited by umpire Kumar Dharmasena and third umpire Marais Erasmus for the incident.

The comments breached Article 2.1.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct which relates to "using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an international match".

Clarke has accepted the charges and will now pay a fine of 20% of his match fee for the incident.
