David Warner and Phillip Hughes score 87 and 85 runs respectively to take Australia to just 53 runs short of Sri Lanka's first-innings total of 294.

Australia have headed into tea on the second day of their third Test match against Sri Lanka trailing by just 53 runs.

The home side are currently 241-3 in reply to the tourists' first-innings score of 294 all out.

Australia resumed the second session of the day on 127-1 and continued to dominate proceedings in Sydney.

David Warner and Phillip Hughes both missed out on their centuries but scored 87 and 85 runs respectively.

Michael Clarke is currently unbeaten on 42 runs, while Michael Hussey is 18 not out.
