Australia's Steven Smith fit for selection, despite getting struck on hand in nets

Smith fit, despite fear of hand injury

Australia captain Michael Clarke has confirmed that batsman Steven Smith is available for Wednesday's World Cup match against Afghanistan, despite getting struck on the hand in training.

While in the nets on Tuesday, Smith appeared to be in slight discomfort after a ball hit him on the hand, but Clarke has calmed fears of a potential injury.

The skipper revealed today that Smith managed to return for another bat, indicating that he is fit for Australia's Pool B encounter in Perth.

Bowler Patrick Cummins, however, has been ruled out of the match due to a side strain.
