Michael Clarke return confirmed for Bangladesh match

Australia coach Darren Lehmann confirms that captain Michael Clarke will return to the team as expected for their World Cup match against Bangladesh in Brisbane.

Australia coach Darren Lehmann has confirmed that captain Michael Clarke will play in their World Cup match against Bangladesh on Saturday.

The 33-year-old batsman has been working towards this return date since injuring his hamstring during the home Test series with India in December.

The tournament co-hosts thrashed England by 111 runs in their opening game last weekend and will now have Clarke back to strengthen them further.

When asked about Clarke's potential selection, Lehmann told reporters: "He's playing, mate, he's definitely playing".

Clarke added: "We had a good conversation last week. We thought it was in my best interest and the team's best interest to not play against England, give myself another week of preparation and training. And I think at this stage the selectors are really happy."

Either vice-captain George Bailey or Shane Watson are expected to make way for Clarke in Brisbane.
