Mitchell Johnson: 'Chris Rogers deserved man of the match'

Australia's Mitchell Johnson says that Chris Rogers's century should have seen him win the man of the match award in the fourth Ashes Test match against England.

Australia paceman Mitchell Johnson has said that Chris Rogers deserved to take the man of the match award in the fourth Ashes Test match in Melbourne.

The 32-year-old bowler finished with match figures of 8-88 at the MCG as the home side sailed into a 4-0 lead with one game left to play in Sydney next week.

Mitchell, who is the leading wicket-taker in the series with 31, took the honours, but he believes that Rogers's second Test century in helping the Aussies to their total was more worthy of acclaim.

"I thought that Chris Rogers deserved this more than me, he was outstanding," he told Channel 9.

"I feel good and I'm looking forward to Sydney. We want to go 5-0."

Stuart Broad is second on the list of wicket-takers this series with 19.
