Matthew Hoggard: 'Mitchell Johnson can be an Ashes match-winner'

Matthew Hoggard believes that Mitchell Johnson could make the difference for Australia in the Ashes series.

Former England bowler Matthew Hoggard believes that Mitchell Johnson can be a match-winner for Australia during the Ashes.

Johnson was recalled to the team due to his impressive form for the one-day international squad after missing out the Ashes campaign in England.

"Australia brought him back early, saying that they wanted him to get ready for the Test matches, why would they do that?" Hoggard told talkSPORT.

"It can't be his technique because he was in great form. Is it getting him to a psychologist? There's a lot of pressure and build up to an Ashes series.

"It's up to Mitchell Johnson to put all that behind him and say, 'I'm in good form'. If he can get it right, then he can be a match-winner for Australia."

The first Test gets underway in Brisbane on Thursday.
