Yahia Elmekachari comfortable in victory

Tunisia's Yahia Elmekachari has comfotably defeated Jakhon Qurbonov of Tajikistan in the Olympic light-heavyweight tournament.

Elmekachari went to work on Qurbonov's body as the Tajiki laboured during the opening round, falling 6-2 behind.

The Tunisian opened the second round with a couple of straight left jabs as he continued to control the encounter.

Elmekachari led by five points at the midway stage and penetrated what little defence Qurbonov put up with a a stiff right hand early in the third.

Qurbonov looked disinterested throughout the bout as Elmekachari landed at will to score an easy 16-8 win.
