Craig Cunningham shocks Anthony Ogogo to win WBC middleweight title

Anthony Ogogo loses his unbeaten record as Craig Cunningham wins the vacant WBC international middleweight title in Saturday's clash at the Birmingham Arena.

Craig Cunningham has won the WBC International middleweight title by stopping the previously-unbeaten Anthony Ogogo in Birmingham on Saturday night.

The 2012 Olympic bronze medallist, who had won his previous 11 professional fights, never recovered from being knocked down by a right hook in the second round.

Ogogo had never been past six rounds before and was retired by his corner in the eighth round due to blurred vision, as Cunningham secured the vacant strap.

The home favourite told Sky Sports News: "I love being the underdog, nothing fazes me.

"I had to check how quick he actually was. I fancied myself as a counter-puncher. My knockout record isn't great but if I catch someone, they're going to go.

"You can't teach heart, can you?"

Cunningham, who has lost just one of his 18 bouts, was a 20-1 outsider with some bookmakers to beat Ogogo at the Birmingham Arena.
