Paddy Barnes joins Michael Conlan, Michaela Walsh in boxing final

Boxer Paddy Barnes cruises into Saturday's final in the Commonwealth Games after thumping Uganda's Fazil Juma Raggwa in three rounds.

Northern Irish boxer Paddy Barnes enjoyed a routine win over Uganda's Fazil Juma Raggwa to set up a gold-medal match with old foe Devendro Singh-Laishram of India on Saturday.

The Belfast fighter coasted through his last-four bout at the Commonwealth Games tonight, winning all three rounds en route to a rematch with the Indian in tomorrow's final.

The light flyweight has previously triumphed over Singh-Laishram after beating him to an Olympic bronze in London two years ago, and Barnes will hope that history repeats itself as he targets Commonwealth gold.

Northern Ireland boasted no fewer than nine boxers in the semi-finals prior to today, but the 27-year-old is one of just three to have progressed, joining Michael Conlan and Michaela Walsh in the finals of their respective categories.

Connor Coyle and Steven Donnelly will look to emulate their compatriots later tonight as they face off with India's Vijender Vijender and his countryman Mandeep Jangra.
