Billy Joe Saunders, Martin Murray clash postponed until June

The WBO middleweight title clash between Billy Joe Saunders and Martin Murray is rearranged for June after Saunders suffered a hand injury.

The WBO middleweight title clash between Billy Joe Saunders and Martin Murray has been postponed until June 23.

Saunders had been scheduled to make the fourth defence of his world crown at London's O2 Arena on April 14, with Murray getting his fifth chance to win global honours.

However, on Tuesday afternoon, it was revealed that the fight has been put on hold due to a hand injury sustained by Saunders.

Should Saunders successfully defend the WBO belt against Murray, the 28-year-old is targeting a clash with Gennady Golovkin, providing that the Kazakh puncher defeats Saul Alvarez in Las Vegas on May 5.

The remainder of the April 14 card has also been cancelled, with all but the WBO super-lightweight showdown between Terry Flanagan and Maurice Hooker moving to the June 23 date.
